Nate is a truly great personal trainer and not just because he knows tons about training, exercise and nutrition. It’s because he genuinely tailors everything to your real needs and works not just on challenging and supporting the physical aspects of your fitness but the mental and emotional aspects too. He understands (and has taught me) that the most important thing you bring to the gym is your mind and the only thing you ever need to beat is your former yourself, a principle he both preaches and practices. Over the last three years, we’ve carried on pushing forwards through what have been some of my most challenging times and Nate has been instrumental in keeping me focussed and healthy in mind and body. People often describe certain experiences as “life changing” but Nate has genuinely helped me do just that – to change my life for the better.
After years of going to the gym and not getting any noticeable results I joined the Unit and signed up to Nate Cook Health. My aim was to tone up, lose a little fat and create more shape on my legs and bum. Nate worked with me to create a nutrition plan and tailored work outs to help me achieve my goals. Within a week I was already noticing a difference, which was a huge spur to carry on. Nate has taught me the importance of nutrition to help achieve my goals, he’s changed the way I feel about food and I’m happy to eat pasta and potatoes and protein etc because I know my body needs it to create a difference.
I’ve been with Nate for a year and within that time I’ve had holidays, weekends away and lots of indulgences but then I’ve been right back on plan. He’s taught me not to beat myself up over a bad meal or some alcohol but to accept it and work harder! My goals are always work in progress and sometimes they change slightly but with Nate’s guidance you get the results. My nutrition is sustainable, I’m not on a fad diet and I can make better choices with food.
I am forever grateful to Nate for his patience, his determination to help me get the results I want and also being the bully he is to make me work harder and push me to a new personal best. He has honestly inspired the passion I now have for health and fitness. He is an outstanding personal trainer with an immense amount of knowledge and experience. I started my coaching with Nate as a very demotivated and un confident person. After years of yo-yo diets and getting no where fast I looked to Nate for help.
He tailored a diet plan and training program to fit my needs and get me in to my wedding dress. After two months and nearly two stone off I felt amazing, confident and wedding dress ready!

About 4 years ago I went on holiday with my partner, a photo was taken of myself and I had that sudden realisation that I had let myself go and knew something needed to be done. My step daughter and myself then headed for the gym and thats where my new passion for health and fitness all started and I met Nate. Three and a half years later I am still training with Nate, in this time I have gone from being ashamed of myself and my physique to being completely confident again. I have seen an enormous mount of change and through Nates guidance I have continued to keep that weight off.
From not training at all to now training nearly everyday (life depending), I combine weights and cardio. I am a big mountain biking enthusiast and constantly find my personal bests increasing and my fitness developing. I try to include as much exercise into my life as possible just through passion and now find myself taking the mountain bike on holiday just for pure enjoyment.
Nutrition wise I have a set food intake I have on a daily basis. I run a macronutrient plan that means I can eat whatever I like as long as I dont over consume kcal. I still eat out and have many off plan meals and have found a perfect balance.
Work wise I have a tough schedule, I start work at around 1:30am and work 12 hour days, I make sure I head straight to the gym after work otherwise I know I would head home and not get it in, fatigue would stop me. I have family, food prep and other chores like most others but always make sure my daily checklist is sorted and my health is prioritised, its easy once you get that routine.
I have setbacks like anyone else and sometimes I cant increase the weights or move faster on the bike but consistency means that I will progress, just over time. Patience I find is key. Nates invaluable help and constant push means I never quit and I love the new lifestyle. I would have laughed in your face if you told me I would look and live like I do now. I am very proud of what I have achieved and plan to keep going!
